Flash, or Requiem for a Beardie
She came to give love for awhile.
The child's attention turns.
Menageries become human.
She lived her life in the sun
And taught us what might lie beyond.
Now she scampers in the red Gibson Desert
Free of any tie
As we guard her memory.
