Mercy for the Denominator

The veil could never contain.
Eventually the onion
Would be peeled back all the way.
We'd no longer even see
What had kept away the free
—The newly recognized.
It was necessary, pain,
And those who took dominion
Were ruthless but kind, for they
Did what was necessary,
Sought to serve us with their reign
A choice for our decision
Where everything was disguised
—How else could we know the way?
