Sunday without Prayers

The mind is fattened for slaughter
to spare it unthinkable predators.
The first fires glow in iron pits.
The grass is turning green once more.

I am as anxious as a deer.
The parameters of the dream
prevent me from seeing what's out there
to fear—vulnerable to sun beams.
