Jesse Comes to Town

These are the days of giant lemons
When love no longer has restrictions,
The addicts have collapsed into their treatments,
And nothing holds back spring from its perfection;

When twinkies seem a pastry sent from heaven
And the stubborn weeds are lifted when I ask,
But homes don't have to be as beautiful as people
And the cat can jump the wall to eat the grass.

The birds say what they know
As blossoms show the secrets of the desert.

There's so much to read in the sky
But all is beauty
And we are only pruning
An endless flow that moves as we're directed—
The sun a smiling face with rayban shades.
