Graffitto is the new Renaissance
in Firenze --
Its words are on the buildings,
in the way,
The balloon extrusions of names
unfamiliar today
That may as well be Da Vinci,
Boccaccio, Dante
Or some more contemporary celebrity,
a Renato Zero, say,
We are apprenticed to in worship.
The word though
Hasn't hit the Ponte Vecchio
with colors
That won't stop crying
for attention
To the most hermetic
anonymity.
Yes there are hints of the real life
engraved in gold, stone,
But the ancient rules were given
to very few
To walk outside the dome
of beauty's prison.
