Crack in the Morning

Choose your silence carefully
— It will be remembered

In the leaves of the trees
As the birds and dogs bay.

The crows look for what you have to say
But fly off as you open your mouth.

Only scarecrows are allowed to be fools.
The rest must be wrong on their own.

The light leaves nothing out
— It is only ear.
