The Second Half of the Year
The full moon of letting go
Must be as heavy as a medicine ball
To hold the swollen mind.
It can’t even shine through the clouds
Spun in a macabre glow.
The gourds on the vine
Seemingly so ripe
Are the hardest things to free.
