It's brutal the way
the goat grows out of the spiral,
irascible ego
must learn how to flow
with the consequating whole,
to let the past go
by learning its mistakes.
The integrity of fitting
the narrow straits
requires not molding the truth
to desire
for even an instant,
but accepting the brown hills
of bare woods as beauty
so the path of the birch trees
can be seen.
It's an energy that tells me
with my precious son in a homeless shelter
on Christmas
not to break
or visit.
