Piles of Sunday Papers

Knowledge slips its knots
a foolish thing

and I am left
a golden leaf

set free and floating
over lost and broken notes

the tones kicked out of tunes
forever holding firm to patterns

A complex little creation.

"slips its knots"--slips knots over something, or its knots slip open?

"the tones kicked out of tunes"--toneless tunes or the tones kicked up from tunes? The tones or tunes hole their patterns?

I like the unsolved ambiguities.
