Love Sonnet

Love is hard science, not just emotion;
Every thing finds its own match in a lover,
But one who loves nothing, that is the answer:
Love without object, love without reason

Lifts up the anchor and frees time and space
To move with the forces pulsing inside us,
This dervish universe we sense as stillness
Like the glare that is fixed on a human face

Resembles the cosmos before it was sprung;
It feels inside the fires of creation,
Feels parallel lives joined in compression,
Feels no self at all as the smile is hung

Where a pulse is gone yet hope goes on, the hero
Of an endless equation of zeros.
