Just As I Was About to Forget

The mesmerizing glow of weeds
In late sun
The great mind rolls in grass
And sharpens cactus
And whitens all the wires
That drape the air

The birds express in flight
The slanting of its light
The metals come to life
In brilliant silver
Acacias, palm and pine
Distinguished in its highlight
Display a logic intricate
In branches gold and grey

Bare walls are sudden murals
Showing what we've learned:
Our capacity to feel

We move ever away from this
The sun shines
Somewhere else
Leaving me to ponder
Diatribes from radios
Of hateful random tears
